Illinois Football Welcomes Class of 2026 Pass Rusher Jacob Alexander

Illinois coach Bret Bielema and his staff are continuing to strengthen the program’s 2026 recruiting class with the addition of three-star edge rusher Jacob Alexander on Monday. Alexander, a top-15 in-state prospect from Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, Illinois, chose Illinois over several Big Ten schools and SEC’s Missouri. His commitment came after attending Illinois’ “Junior Day” event, which showcased the program and university to high school prospects.

Bielema expressed excitement about the program’s future following the Citrus Bowl victory and a 10-win season but acknowledged the need for continuous improvement. Alexander cited Illinois’ style of play and the people in the program as reasons for choosing to play for Bielema. His commitment makes him the sixth 2026 pledge for Illinois alongside other promising recruits.

The addition of Alexander adds depth to the Illini’s future roster and highlights the program’s ability to attract talented players. Illinois fans and experts are looking forward to seeing how Bielema and his staff continue to build on the success of the past season.
