Illinois State Volleyball Set for MVC Tournament Action

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Illinois State volleyball team is primed for action in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Volleyball Tournament, scheduled for November 23-26 on the University of Northern Iowa campus. This marks the second consecutive year the Redbirds have qualified for the tournament, securing the No. 4 seed.

Illinois State will learn its first-round opponent following the Saturday match between No. 5 Bradley and No. 8 Missouri State. Their quarterfinal match is slated for Sunday, November 24, at 3 p.m. Fans can follow the action via ESPN+ or live stats.

In the tournament bracket, the winner of the Illinois State match is set to face No. 1 seed UNI, who emerged as the regular-season champions, on Monday at 3 p.m. Meanwhile, on the opposite side, No. 6 Valparaiso is matched against No. 7 Murray State, with the winner contending against No. 3 UIC in the quarterfinals.

With a historic record of 48-28 in MVC postseason play, this will be Illinois State’s 41st appearance in the MVC tournament. The Redbirds have clinched 13 MVC tournament titles and five runner-up finishes over the years.

On an individual level, senior setter Mekaila Aupiu leads the nation with 1,289 assists in the current season, making her one of only 14 players nationwide with over 1,100 assists. As a team, the Redbirds excel in various metrics, ranking first in total assists (1,540) and kills (1,661).
