The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana is gearing up for its annual move-in for the 2024-25 school year, expecting a total of around 47,000 full-time students. The university, known for its diverse student body from all over the U.S. and 130 countries, had a record incoming freshman class of 8,325 last year. However, with a larger than expected number of new students this year, the school is offering incentives for up to 350 students to cancel their housing contracts due to capacity constraints.
First-year students are required to live on campus at U of I, and the move-in dates for various groups are scheduled throughout August. The university has a variety of events planned for students, including Welcome Week, International student orientation, and Quad Day, leading up to the first day of classes on August 26. The academic calendar includes a fall break from November 23 to December 1, with classes ending on December 11 and final exams taking place from December 13-19.
The influx of students and their families into the Champaign-Urbana area is sure to bring energy and excitement to the community as the new school year begins. With a strong academic reputation and a vibrant campus environment, the University of Illinois continues to attract students from near and far for a world-class education.
