Lake County, Illinois – Alejandro I. Dominguez, a 42-year-old man from Mundelein, was recently arrested on multiple felony charges related to his alleged involvement in selling fentanyl and other drugs. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group (SIG) launched an undercover operation after receiving information that Dominguez was selling cocaine and pills laced with fentanyl. The operation lasted several months and resulted in the recovery of over 1,300 pills laced with fentanyl and over 30 grams of cocaine. On Thursday, SIG detectives apprehended Dominguez without incident.
Sheriff John D. Idleburg emphasized the detrimental impact of fentanyl on the community and affirmed the department’s commitment to combatting drug trafficking. He commended the collaborative efforts of federal and local partners in removing drug dealers from the streets.
Dominguez faces numerous charges, including four felony counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver (Class X), five felony counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver (Class 1), and one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver (Class 2), as well as 10 counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Class 4). He is scheduled for a detention hearing on July 23.
The arrest serves as a reminder of law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and the distribution of dangerous substances like fentanyl. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office remains vigilant in protecting the community from the harmful effects of illicit substances.
