Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois Merges with Indiana Counterpart
Peoria, IL – Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois has announced a strategic merger with Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana, significantly expanding its service area. This merger, revealed on Tuesday, will enable the combined organization to assist individuals and families across 21 counties in central Illinois and 40 counties in central and southern Indiana.
The merger stems from collaborative discussions between Central Illinois CEO Don Johnson and Indiana CEO Kent Kramer, aiming to enhance the nonprofit’s capacity to meet community needs in healthcare, education, housing, and employment. "A partnership will increase our collective resources and provide the best opportunity to expand our reach," stated Johnson.
As part of the transition, Johnson, who plans to retire in August, will remain involved as a consultant to ensure a smooth adaptation to the new organizational structure. The merger received approval from the territory’s board of directors, underscoring a strategic alignment among the more than 150 independent Goodwill organizations across North America.
This consolidation reflects a commitment to enhancing service and resource efficiency, ultimately benefiting the communities served by both organizations.
