Joliet Junior College Launches Pioneering Free Test Prep Program for Students
JOLIET, IL – State Sen. Meg Loughran Cappel and Joliet Junior College (JJC) President Dr. Clyne Namuo inaugurated the innovative "Prepare for Illinois’ Future" program on Thursday, a groundbreaking initiative designed to provide free test preparation and professional skills training to Illinois college students. The event highlighted the program’s transformative potential, offering state-funded access to over 40 test prep courses in fields like healthcare, technology, and law.
"This initiative is a remarkable benefit for students pursuing high-demand career paths," said Loughran Cappel, emphasizing its role in shaping future career pathways. The program has already saved students over $7 million since its launch, demonstrating a significant need for ongoing funding.
Dr. Namuo hailed the program as a "game changer," noting that students have saved more than $30,000 in just a month. Michael Mutterer, president of Silver Cross Hospital, stressed the program’s impact on addressing local workforce shortages, particularly in nursing, by removing financial barriers to essential exams.
The event underscored the program’s promise and called for sustained funding to ensure its long-term success for future Illinois students.
