Press Release: Illinois State Police Announces Youth Police Camps in Romeoville
The Illinois State Police is excited to host three Team Illinois Youth Police Camps this summer, one of which will take place at Lewis University in Romeoville from June 22 to 28. Designed for teenagers aged 13 to 17, the weeklong overnight camps aim to foster personal development and challenge participants to reach their full potential.
Utilizing a military model, the camps will engage cadets in military drills and physical fitness exercises, complemented by classroom instruction on leadership development, substance abuse resistance, and team-building skills. The program seeks to enhance positive interactions between law enforcement and youth, providing a supportive environment where teens can participate in mentorship and constructive activities.
Local law enforcement agencies and civic organizations are collaborating with the Illinois State Police to create a meaningful experience for attendees. "This camp steers young people away from negative influences towards brighter futures," said an official in the release.
To apply for the camp at Lewis University, interested individuals should contact Illinois State Police Trooper Duane Chappell at 620-417-5892 or via email at duane.chappell@illinois.gov. This initiative promises valuable life skills and lasting friendships.
