A medical helicopter operated by ARCH Air Medical crashed in Hartford, Illinois, just north of St. Louis, on Thursday night. The helicopter was based at ARCH’s Granite City base and was en route to Hartford when the crash occurred. All three crew members on board survived the crash and were transported to local hospitals for evaluation. The incident took place near the Hartford Fire Department, where the helicopter was hosting a training exercise earlier in the evening. State Rep. Amy Elik asked for prayers for those injured in the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation. A 5 On Your Side crew is at the scene gathering more information. ARCH’s parent company, Air Methods, is providing support to the crew and authorities involved in the investigation.
