Cleanup efforts continued in west central Illinois on Tuesday, following severe storms that caused damage in several communities. Macomb was among the affected areas, with minimal damage reported by City Administrator Scott Coker. While damage was less extensive than in previous years, residents were encouraged to use the yard waste site in town for debris disposal.
In Camp Point, volunteers were seen aiding in cleanup efforts after a tornado hit Bailey Park, causing significant damage. Friends of Bailey Park President Abby Bastert expressed gratitude for the community’s support, with many residents and business owners sacrificing their time to help. High school students also lent a hand during their day off school.
The park remains closed to the public due to debris, but efforts are underway to reopen it as soon as possible. Bastert emphasized the importance of community support and the willingness of residents to help in times of need. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on cleanup efforts through the city’s website.
