Alice Sanders is a Central Otago lawyer who leads a diverse life that includes high country farming and hunting. At 35, she juggles her legal career with her role introducing newcomers to hunting on her family’s property near Alexandra. Born into a high-country farming family, she feels fortunate to have that background and runs the Mount Campbell Hunting Club to share her experiences with others.
Working at a law firm in Wānaka, Sanders appreciates the flexibility that allows her to pursue farming and hunting. She decided to shift her focus from a corporate career goal in her late 20s and chose to be more involved with the farm she grew up on. Through her hunting business, she aims to provide a welcoming and educational experience to clients, demystifying the hunting process and encouraging learning for individuals of all levels.
Sanders finds satisfaction in both her farming and legal work, viewing her experiences in farming as making her a more well-rounded individual and better lawyer. A head injury in 2021 slowed her down but did not deter her from her passion for farming and hunting. With a new house in Alexandra, she looks forward to continuing her unique blend of legal work and life on the land.
