Leading candidate in the 2025 Polish presidential elections: who is in the lead?

The upcoming Presidential elections in Poland are shaping up to be a crucial moment for the country’s political landscape. Frontrunner Rafal Trzaskowski from the Civic Platform party is currently leading in the polls with 38.3%, followed by independent candidate Karol Nawrocki. However, far-right candidate Slawomir Mentzen has gained popularity, especially among young voters through social media. Marshall of the Sejm Szymon Holownia and left-wing candidates Magdalena Biejat and Adrian Zandberg are also in the running. The current ruling coalition in Parliament, led by incumbent President Andrzej Duda, is facing challenges in enacting reforms and the election results will determine its ability to address key issues in the country such as civil partnerships, abortion rights, migration, and national defense. The first round of the elections will be held on May 18, with a potential second round on June 1 if no candidate secures at least 50% of the vote. The victor will serve a five-year term and take office before a joint session of the Sejm and the Senate on August 6. This election is expected to be a significant turning point for Poland’s political future.
