Iowa’s first season under head coach Jan Jensen comes to a disappointing end with a second-round loss to Oklahoma in the Spokane 4 region. The No. 6 seed Hawkeyes were unable to overcome the No. 3 Sooners on their home court at the Lloyd Noble Center, as Oklahoma dominated the boards, outrebounding Iowa 51-28.
Despite fouls and injuries, Reagan Beers put up an impressive performance for Iowa with 13 rebounds, 11 points, four blocks, and two steals. Skyler Vann led the Sooners with 17 points, while Payton Verhuist added 16 points and Sahara Williams contributed 13 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
The game saw a strong shooting performance from both teams, with Lucy Olson scoring 20 points for Iowa and Kylie Feuerbach adding 14 points. However, Oklahoma’s strong second-half performance, including nine 3-pointers, proved to be too much for the Hawkeyes to overcome.
Oklahoma now moves on to face the winner of the UConn vs. South Dakota State matchup in the next round of the tournament.
