A person was found dead inside a burning vehicle along a rural road in Sangamon County. The incident took place in the 600 block of Horse Farm Road near Glenarm, where a passerby noticed a KIA SUV in the roadway. Initially, it was unclear if the vehicle was occupied, but later smoke was seen coming from it. The car quickly caught fire, prompting the witness to call 9-1-1. The Divernon Fire Department extinguished the flames and discovered a deceased individual in the passenger compartment. The vehicle was registered to an address in Springfield, and detectives are currently investigating the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers of Sangamon & Menard Counties or the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division.
