USA Swimming has announced that Chrissi Rawak will no longer be taking over as President and CEO due to unforeseen personal circumstances. The organization had previously touted her decades of experience in leading successful sports organizations and her guidance leading up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Rawak, a former collegiate swimmer and athletic director at Delaware, was set to take over after Tim Hinchey stepped down following the 2024 Summer Olympics. The American swimming team faced disappointment at the Games, leading to a new leadership change at USA Swimming.
Although Rawak had not yet taken over the organization and had not yet relocated to Colorado Springs, her sudden departure has left USA Swimming in search of a new candidate for the position. In addition, the organization is also in the process of hiring a new national team managing director after Lindsay Mintenko’s departure.
The Board and leadership team of USA Swimming remain committed to supporting their members and athletes as they prepare for the World Aquatics Championships this summer. Despite the setback with Rawak, the organization is confident in its staff, leadership team, and strategic direction. The search for a new President and CEO continues, with interim CEO Shana Ferguson staying in place for the time being.
