Special Olympics Illinois is gearing up for several Polar Plunge events in the Quad Cities area. These annual events see participants taking a dip in freezing waters to raise funds for the organization’s programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The first Polar Plunge will take place in Galesburg on February 26th, followed by events in the Quad Cities on March 5th and in Macomb on March 12th. The organization is encouraging individuals and teams to participate and fundraise for a chance to win prizes and support a good cause.

Special Olympics Illinois provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The Polar Plunges are a fun and unique way for the community to show support for these athletes and help raise money for their programs.

Those interested in participating can register online and start fundraising immediately. Incentives are available for reaching fundraising goals, and participants can also create teams to compete for additional prizes. Special Olympics Illinois is looking forward to another successful year of Polar Plunges in the Quad Cities area.
