The Civil Service Council at Illinois State University is featuring an exceptional colleague each month to showcase the outstanding work being done on campus. This month, they are highlighting Yelyse Walls, the Assistant Director of Cultural and Social Justice Programming at the Multicultural Center. Walls has been with ISU since 2015 and finds her work rewarding as she curates programming that empowers student belonging on campus. Her hobbies include listening to podcasts and NPR Tiny Desk Concerts when she’s not working. Walls, a two-time ISU graduate, has been a member of the ISU community for 14 years.
Dr. Monica Overton, associate director at the Multicultural Center, praises Walls for her creativity, commitment, and dedication to creating a sense of belonging for students and visitors. She has introduced innovative programming and approaches every project with thoughtfulness and creativity, ensuring participants are supported, validated, and appropriately challenged. Walls is described as a true visionary and invaluable asset to the team at the Multicultural Center.
