Keaton Wagler, a Class of 2025 guard from Shawnee, Kansas, recently visited the University of Illinois at Champaign on an official visit. Wagler’s recruitment took off in the summer, with multiple offers coming in from mid-major and high-profile programs across the country. Despite committing to Illinois without seeing a game at State Farm Center, Wagler was impressed by the energy of the crowd during the recent win against Northwestern.
Wagler, who plays for Shawnee Mission Northwest, is known for his playmaking abilities and three-point shooting. While his team experienced a loss to national powerhouse Link Academy, Wagler remains focused on helping his team succeed and potentially secure another state title.
Illinois head coach Brad Underwood praised Wagler’s skills and sees him as a valuable addition to the team in the future. Wagler, who signed with Illinois in November, is looking forward to joining the team next season and contributing to their spread offense strategy.
