TGS, a Norwegian seismic specialist, has recently announced that they have secured an offshore wind site characterization contract on the U.K. continental shelf for a repeat customer. The contract, which has a total duration of approximately 60 days, is set to begin in the first quarter of 2025. While the name of the client has not been disclosed, it has been revealed that the Ramform Vanguard will be used for this project. Equipped with Ultra-high-resolution 3D (UHR-3D) streamers, this technology will provide high-resolution data of the shallow subsurface targets for wind farm development.
Kristian Johansen, CEO of TGS, expressed his excitement over securing more offshore wind site characterization contracts and extending their success in this market throughout 2024. He highlighted the importance of UHR-3D acquisition in providing clients with better seismic data and enabling them to make data-driven decisions for their wind farm developments. This project further emphasizes TGS’s expertise in the industry and their commitment to offering top-notch services to their clients.
With the increasing demand for renewable energy sources, offshore wind farms have become a key focus for many countries looking to reduce their carbon footprint. TGS’s involvement in this project underscores their dedication to supporting the growth of renewable energy and providing essential services to clients in the offshore wind sector. The company’s use of cutting-edge technology and their track record of success make them a valuable partner for clients seeking reliable and accurate data for their wind farm developments.
