Illinois politicians contemplate the lasting impact of President Jimmy Carter


Former President Jimmy Carter’s passing has been met with an outpouring of condolences and reflections from Illinois elected officials. The 100-year-old Nobel Peace Prize recipient died in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, where he spent most of his life alongside his late wife, Rosalynn. President Joe Biden has ordered a state funeral for Carter in Washington.

Former President Barack Obama praised Carter for his decency and values, highlighting his belief in integrity, respect, and compassion. Illinois politicians such as Mayor Brandon Johnson, Sens.
