Former Illinois Megachurch Pastor Mike Baker, who resigned amid accusations of mishandling his son’s alleged sexual misconduct, has started a new church in downtown Bloomington. Despite the controversy surrounding his resignation from Eastview Christian Church, Baker is determined to create a community-focused church that serves the underprivileged and those in need.
Baker’s son, Caleb Baker, also faced allegations of sexual misconduct while serving as a pastor at Eastview and later at Central Christian Church in Arizona. The scandal shook the Christian community and led to the Bakers’ departure from their respective churches.
While Baker has denied any wrongdoing and maintains that he handled the situation with his son appropriately, an independent investigation found evidence of misuse of power and a lack of accountability within Eastview. Despite the challenges and criticism he has faced, Baker remains committed to his ministry and has established a new congregation at the Chateau Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington.
With a growing congregation of 300 people, some of whom are former ECC members, Baker’s Song and Sword church is moving to a new location in downtown Bloomington. Despite past accusations and controversies, Baker continues to preach a message of grace and truth, emphasizing the importance of faith and perseverance in the face of adversity.
