Redbirds Aupiu Shines in All-MVC Awards


Illinois State volleyball senior Mekaila Aupiu has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Setter of the Year, the first Redbird to receive this honor since 2020-21. This accolade is part of a series of individual honors for ISU volleyball players. Junior Aida Shadewald was selected for the All-MVC First Team for the second consecutive year, while freshman Khenedi Guest was named MVC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the MVC All-Freshman Team.

Aupiu led the NCAA in assists and assists per set during the regular season, showcasing her exceptional talent. Shadewald excelled in kills, kills per set, service aces, and aces, finishing with 362 total kills and 41 aces. Guest made an impact in her debut season with 261 kills and 94 blocks.

The Redbirds have a strong lineup of talented athletes, with Aupiu, Shadewald, and Guest all receiving prestigious conference honors.
