Arjun, a successful advertising executive, is diagnosed with cancer and given only 100 days to live in the film “I Want to Talk”. Determined to fight the disease, Arjun embarks on a series of surgeries despite the controversial belief that cancer can be battled through willpower. The film explores Arjun’s physical transformation, relationships, and struggles with suicidal thoughts, ultimately depicting his journey towards acceptance and understanding.
Despite a promising start and compelling premise, the film falls short in its execution. It spends too little time establishing Arjun’s pre-diagnosis life, making his transformation less impactful. While the film hits emotional beats and explores difficult themes, it lacks the depth and nuance needed to fully engage the audience. Additionally, being based on a true story may not resonate as strongly with viewers unless they are familiar with the real-life events.
“I Want to Talk” is set to premiere in cinemas on 22 November, offering audiences a glimpse into a poignant and thought-provoking story of one man’s battle with cancer. While the film touches on important themes and features a strong performance by Abhishek Bachchan, it ultimately fails to fully deliver on its potential.
