Illinois Tollway Hosts I-PASS Transponder Exchange Events in Freeport Area
FREEPORT, Ill. – Residents of the Freeport area will have an opportunity to upgrade their old plastic I-PASS transponders for new sticker tags at a special event scheduled for Monday, December 2. The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Conference Center at Highland Community College, located at 2998 W. Pearl City Road.
Illinois Tollway officials will be present to facilitate the transition to the new sticker technology and to address any questions regarding I-PASS accounts. Attendees are encouraged to bring their license plate numbers to ensure a smooth exchange process. Once activated, the sticker tags can be used on Illinois toll roads and states utilizing the E-Z Pass system within 24 hours. Importantly, there is no deposit required for the sticker tags, and the $10 transponder deposit previously paid will be credited to the account, along with any remaining balance on the transponder.
The event is organized by Illinois State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) and Stephenson County Board Chairman Scott Helms, who highlighted the convenience of offering this service locally. “Rather than having my constituents complete this transaction at the DMV or elsewhere where there may be a fee, I am bringing a mobile team into the 45th District for quick, easy, and free service,” Chesney stated.
Additional events will follow in the 45th District, including sessions on December 3 at Machesney Park Village Hall, December 9 at Elizabeth Village Hall, and December 16 at Resource Bank in Kirkland. Lawmakers encourage residents to attend the event that is nearest to them for an efficient and hassle-free transponder upgrade.
