Illinois governor speaks out on scandal involving ‘super mayor’ Tiffany Henyard: We stand behind investigations

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has reiterated his support for state and federal investigations into the controversial Democratic “Super Mayor” Tiffany Henyard from the Village of Dolton. Pritzker stated that while there have been discussions about allocating resources such as state police to investigate, there are already ongoing investigations by the FBI and former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot into Henyard’s actions.

A recent town meeting aimed at addressing corruption and lavish spending allegations against Henyard turned chaotic as opponents and supporters clashed, with police having to intervene to prevent violence. Henyard has been accused of financial misdeeds, weaponizing police raids, and facing allegations of sexual assault by one of her allies.

The FBI announced investigations into Henyard in February, serving federal subpoenas for employment records of Dolton employees. The village has hired Lightfoot as a “Special Investigator” into Henyard, paying her $400 per hour. Despite being dubbed the “worst mayor in America” by critics, Henyard has denied the allegations against her, calling them a political smear campaign.

In response to the controversy, Pritzker has expressed support for the ongoing investigations by federal authorities and stressed the importance of allowing them to proceed without interference. Henyard’s office did not respond to requests for comment on the matter. The situation remains tense as residents and officials await the outcome of the investigations into the embattled mayor.
