Florida State disappoints in Week 0 college football outcomes

Florida State went to Ireland to face Georgia Tech and ended up losing on a last-second kick. The Seminoles struggled on offense and defense, allowing almost 200 rushing yards and three touchdowns. New quarterback DJ Uiagalelei seemed uncomfortable throwing downfield, posing a challenge for the team. Despite the disappointing performance, the Seminoles still have a shot at making the 12-team College Football Playoff as an at-large bid.

Winners from Week 0 included Georgia Tech and coach Brent Key, who have transformed the program into an ACC contender. SMU also emerged as a winner after a comeback victory against Nevada. On the other hand, Florida State was seen as a loser for their underwhelming performance and resetting expectations to around eight wins rather than ten or more. DJ Uiagalelei’s cautious play style may not be enough for FSU to win another ACC title, raising concerns about the team’s potential moving forward.

Nevada and New Mexico were also labeled as losers for their respective losses in Week 0. Nevada showed progress but missed an opportunity to pull off an upset against SMU, which could impact their season outcome. New Mexico, under new coach Bronco Mendenhall, collapsed in the fourth quarter against Montana State, losing a game they were on track to win. Despite the setbacks, both teams have the potential to bounce back and improve as the season progresses.
