Professor McClure has been elected to the American Bar Association Senior Lawyers Division


Senior Politics and Government Professor Thomas McClure has been elected to the American Bar Association (ABA) Senior Lawyers Division (SLD) Council for a two-year-term, following his successful leadership of the ABA Standing Committee on Paralegals. With nearly 50,000 members, the SLD is known for its dedication to providing benefits to its members through various mediums such as magazines, e-newsletters, and webinars.

McClure’s expertise and experience have also led to his appointment to the Experience magazine board for a one-year term. This magazine, aimed at mature lawyers, reflects the wealth of knowledge and understanding they have accumulated over the years. Additionally, McClure has played a key role in gaining and maintaining ABA approval for the Illinois State University legal studies program and developing a legal studies major.

In collaboration with Prairie State Legal Services, McClure manages an expungement clinic where legal studies students help prepare court documents for indigent clients seeking to clear their criminal records. His dedication to legal education and service to the community has been recognized through his appointments and achievements.

As a valuable member of the SLD Council, Thomas McClure’s contributions and leadership will undoubtedly continue to benefit the legal profession and the senior lawyers within the American Bar Association.
