The Chicago area has been named home to the top two “safest and richest” suburbs in the nation, according to a new ranking by GOBankingRates. The report analyzed various data points including average household income, population, cost of living, and crime rates to rank the top 30 suburbs in the country.
Western Springs, a southwestern suburb of Chicago, took the number one spot on the list with an average household median income of $276,402 and an average single-family home value of $763,060. Kenilworth, located on the exclusive North Shore of Chicago, came in at number two with a significantly higher average household median income of $437,822 and an average single-family home value of $1,768,606.
Other Chicago suburbs that made the top five include Winnetka and Wilmette, with Winnetka ranking at number five on the list. Winnetka boasts an average household median income of $458,988 and an average single-family home value of $1,623,361.
Overall, the majority of the suburbs on the list were located in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and California. The report highlights the safety and prosperity of these Chicago area suburbs, making them attractive places to live for those seeking a high quality of life.
