Woodfield Mall in suburban Chicago is set to welcome a new dining experience in 2025 with the opening of Chubby Cattle, a “premium, all-you-can-eat Wagyu experience.” This will be the restaurant’s first location outside of Chicago’s Chinatown, offering a unique culinary option for visitors to the mall.
The concept of Chubby Cattle revolves around a three-tier, all-you-can-eat menu featuring a variety of Wagyu beef options, sushi, shabu shabu, vegetables, and fruit. This new addition to the lower level dining pavilion wing near entrance 5 is part of the mall’s efforts to provide curated experiences to shoppers, according to General Manager Chris Speca.
Chubby Cattle’s expansion is a part of the growing trend of new stores and restaurants popping up in Chicago area malls, with notable additions including Men’s clothing store Ticknors Men’s Clothier and Vancouver-based fashion brand Aritizia at Woodfield Mall. Radio Flyer also recently opened their first-ever retail store in the area in 2023.
The trend of revitalizing suburban malls with unique dining and shopping options is not limited to Woodfield Mall, with other malls in the Chicago area, such as Old Orchard, Golf Mill, and Gurnee Mills, also experiencing an influx of new stores and restaurants. The addition of Chubby Cattle to Woodfield Mall adds to the growing appeal of the suburban shopping destination for locals and visitors alike.
