BMW and Tesla Recall 743,000 Vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including notices for over 720,000 BMW vehicles due to a water pump malfunction that may cause a fire. Tesla also issued a recall for 9,136 of its 2016 Model X vehicles due to roof trim separation. BMW also issued recalls for various models including the i4 eDrive40, xDrive40, and M50 vehicles for a left side beam crack, as well as the MINI Hardtop 2 Door (Cooper SE) vehicles for a battery that may short circuit. The recalls involve free remedies such as inspections, replacements, and software updates.

For BMW vehicles affected by the water pump malfunction recall, dealers will inspect and replace the water pump and plug connector as necessary and install a protective shield for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent on Oct. 4 and owners can contact BMW customer service for more information. The recalls highlight the importance of staying informed about vehicle safety issues and taking necessary actions to prevent potential hazards. Owners can check online databases like USA TODAY’s automotive recall database or the NHTSA’s database to see if their vehicles have any outstanding recalls. It is essential to address these recalls promptly to ensure the safety of drivers, passengers, and other road users.
