X, the microblogging platform owned by Elon Musk, has been making strides in adding new features since Musk’s takeover in 2022. The latest feature in development is the ability to edit direct messages (DMs), according to information shared by an employee on the platform. Although the timeline for its rollout is still unknown, this feature could soon be introduced on X, allowing users to edit sent messages within a specific time period, similar to other social media apps like WhatsApp and Instagram.
While X already offers the ability to edit posts and comments for Premium subscribers, the ability to edit DMs would be a new addition. This feature could help users rectify unintentional errors and make communication more efficient on the platform. It is unclear whether this feature will be exclusive to Premium subscribers or available to all users.
In addition to editing DMs, X is also reportedly working on other new features, including a ‘Dislike’ Button on iOS to downvote posts. This feature, leaked via code references in the X app, may include a heartbroken emoji-style icon for dislikes. The platform is also exploring the introduction of a Reddit-like format for rating posts and comments, allowing users to express their opinions more effectively.
As X continues to evolve under Musk’s leadership, these new features aim to enhance the user experience and make the platform more interactive and user-friendly. Stay tuned for updates on the rollout of these features on X.
