Holland America Line is offering three cruises in 2026 that will allow guests to witness a total solar eclipse. The cruises are part of a series of Celestial Cruises focused on astronomical phenomena. The sailings will open for booking on July 31, with various itineraries available.
The Eclipse cruises include a 35-day Voyage of the Vikings departing from Boston, a 28-day Scandinavian Solar Eclipse with Greenland and Scotland, and a 13-day Mediterranean Solar Eclipse with Barcelona Overnight. The cruise ships, including Zuiderdam, Nieuw Statendam, and Oosterdam, can accommodate thousands of guests.
The itineraries will take guests to various destinations, including Canada, Europe, Greenland, Scotland, Iceland, Spain, France, Italy, and more. Guests will have the opportunity to view the eclipse from prime locations off the coasts of different countries, with overnight stays at various ports.
Cruise ships offer a unique vantage point for viewing an eclipse and the ability to move as needed to chase the best viewing conditions. The 2026 eclipse cruises will feature scientific specialists, lectures, themed activities, and provide eclipse glasses for guests.
Pricing information for the 2026 eclipse cruises was not available at the time of the announcement, but booking will open soon. Members of Holland America’s loyalty program can receive onboard credit if they book early. The cruises offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a total solar eclipse in a unique and luxurious setting.
