The Illinois State Museum Lockport Gallery is currently hosting an exhibit titled “Glen C. Davies: Moments of Mystery” featuring the works of artist Glen C. Davies. The exhibition explores human desire and frailty through the perspective of a circus sideshow, showcasing 11 paintings, drawings, and sculptures that span a 50-year period in Davies’ career. The pieces were donated to the museum by the artist and the Kohler Foundation Inc. in 2023.
Davies, who was born in Chicago and studied at the School of the Art Institute in the late 1960s, offers viewers a unique and thought-provoking experience through his artworks. The exhibit will be on display at the ISM-Lockport Gallery until October 14th. Located in the historic Norton Building in downtown Lockport, the gallery is a part of the Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor.
Visitors to the museum are advised to adhere to certain guidelines, such as not bringing food, beverages (except water), gum, or candy into the galleries.
