Despite delays, SNCF train services expected to return to normal soon

French railway company SNCF has reported progress in restoring high-speed train services following coordinated arson attacks ahead of the Olympics opening ceremony. The acts of sabotage disrupted three major rail lines before Friday night’s ceremony. Transport Minister Patrice Vergriete stated that traffic on France’s rail network should be fully restored by Monday.

SNCF agents worked through the night in adverse weather conditions to improve TGV traffic from the north, east, and west to Paris. Normal service had resumed on the Eastern high-speed line by Saturday morning, but disruptions are expected to continue on the North axis on Sunday.

Despite the challenges, SNCF is ensuring that all transportation for Olympic teams and accredited personnel will be maintained as planned. Customers are being informed about their train schedules via text message and email.

The sabotage incidents have raised security concerns as Paris hosts the Olympics. French authorities are actively investigating the attacks, but so far, no suspects have been identified or apprehended.

Overall, SNCF is making strides in restoring train services and ensuring the smooth transportation of Olympic participants and attendees. With efforts to fully restore rail traffic by Monday, the company is working diligently to minimize disruptions and address potential security risks during this high-profile event.
