Team USA set an American record in the women’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but ultimately won silver behind Australia. The team of Kate Douglass, Gretchen Walsh, Torri Huske, and Simone Manuel finished with a time of 3:30.20, while Australia took gold and China took bronze. This was Team USA’s 24th medal in the event, 12 more than any other country. Australia set an Olympic record with a time of 3:28.92, earning their fourth consecutive gold in the event. The Americans finished behind in second place after a strong preliminary session earlier in the day. The Australians qualified first with a time of 3:31.57, ahead of the American team of Abbey Weitzeil, Manuel, Erika Connolly, and Douglass, who posted a 3:33.29 time. The result of this event added to the overall medal count for the 2024 Olympics, with Australia leading in the medals tally.
