The Illinois men’s and women’s cross country teams have announced their 2024 schedule, which includes seven meets with four regular season and three postseason races. The schedule kicks off in September with the Badger Classic in Madison, Wisconsin followed by the Fighting Illini Big Ten Preview at the Orange and Blue Golf Course in Savoy, Illinois. Key races include the Nuttycombe Invite and Pre Nationals in Madison, with the Big Ten Championships being hosted by Illinois on November 1 at the Orange and Blue Golf Course.
The NCAA Midwest Regionals will take place in Peoria, Illinois on November 15 and the season will conclude with the NCAA Championships in Madison on November 23. The team is under new leadership with head coach Eric Johannigmeier and assistant coach Chase Kappeler joining the program. The roster includes returning all-region runner Halle Hill and Alex Partlow, who narrowly missed out on Second-Team All-Big Ten honors last season.
This season marks a return to hosting major championship meets for Illinois, with the Big Ten Championships being held at the Orange and Blue Golf Course for the first time since 2011.
