Lansing City Council Approves $2.78 Million Sale of City Hall to Illinois Hotel Developer

Lansing City Hall has been sold to Beitler Real Estate Services for $2.78 million. The sale was approved unanimously by city council members, paving the way for redevelopment in the downtown area. Mayor Andy Schor expressed excitement about the future growth and development of the city, including new housing units, a new city hall, and the Ovation Center for Music and Arts.

The city hall building, which has been a fixture since the late 1950s, will be converted into a hotel with 183 guest rooms, a restaurant/bar, underground parking, and retail space. Construction is set to begin in March 2026 and be completed before summer 2027. The new city hall, to be built by the Boji Group using $40 million in state funds, will be situated at the intersection of Grand Avenue and East Lenawee Street.

The sale of Lansing City Hall marks a significant step in the city’s revitalization efforts and is expected to bring about positive changes in the downtown area. For more information, contact Mike Ellis at mellis@lsj.com or 517-267-0415.
