Should Biden Consider Dropping Out of the Race? Possibly, but Trump isn’t a Stronger Alternative

The presidential debate that took place last Thursday was widely considered a mess, with President Joe Biden’s mental capacity being called into question and former President Donald Trump spreading falsehoods without real-time fact-checking. As a Gen Z voter, the debate left the author feeling helpless and worried about both candidates. Generation Z voters already lack enthusiasm for Biden, and his poor performance in the debate did not help. Trump’s inaccuracies and divisive rhetoric further added to the distress felt by young voters.

The debate failed to inspire confidence in either candidate, with Biden struggling to answer questions and Trump resorting to his typical behavior. Despite this, Gen Z voters have the potential to make a significant impact on the election, with millions being eligible to vote. The USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll found that more than 40% of Democrats believe Biden should be replaced, while only 14% of Republicans believe Trump should be replaced.

The author believes that neither candidate should drop out of the race, as this could lead the United States into chaos. While Trump may be performing better in the polls, the real losers of the debate were the voters, particularly the young ones. The Democratic Party needs to consider how Biden is perceived by young voters and potentially find a new candidate. The Republicans, on the other hand, continue to support Trump despite his actions and lies during the debate. Ultimately, both candidates need to be held accountable for their performances and actions.
