Amy Schumer Reveals She Has Cushing Syndrome, Reports NBC4 Washington

Amy Schumer recently shared that she has been diagnosed with Cushing syndrome, a condition where the body produces too much of the hormone cortisol. Schumer revealed the diagnosis in Jessica Yellin’s “News Not Noise” newsletter, explaining that she had discovered it while promoting her Hulu show “Life & Beth”. Despite undergoing several medical tests, Schumer was relieved to find out that her Cushing syndrome would resolve on its own and that she was healthy.

Earlier this month, Schumer had also disclosed that she had been diagnosed with endometriosis, a painful condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus. Schumer mentioned that critics had commented on her “puffier” face, which ultimately led to her diagnosis. She credited these comments with helping her realize that something was wrong with her health.

Schumer emphasized the importance of self-love and acceptance of one’s physical appearance, noting the stark contrast in the study of men’s and women’s health throughout history. She encouraged women to embrace their bodies and not feel the need to explain or apologize for their physical appearance.

The comedian expressed gratitude for the support she received during this challenging time and highlighted her pride in creating, writing, starring in, and directing her Hulu show. Schumer’s openness about her health struggles serves as a reminder to prioritize self-care and seek medical attention when needed.
